From the obituary of William Hugh Logan Scott:
William Hugh Logan Scott, born January 12, 1868 in Knox County IL, son of Alexander and Mary Ann ( McCornack) Scott, moved to Nebraska with his parents in 1883, and lived in Polk County, excepting a few years in Kansas, until the time of his death. Married January 16, 1895 to Margaret Inness. To this union was born four children, all of whom survive. Arthur I. of Shelby, John W. of Shelby, Wilma M. of Hastings, NE, and Earl A. of Kirkman, Iowa. In early childhood he joined the Presbyterian church. Later affiliated with the Methodist church and was a member at Shelby and president of the board of trustees at the time of his passing. Since September he has been in Mitchell, Nebr. with his cousin, E. W. (Edwin Watson) Brown. His wife passed away April 6, 1934. Besides the surviving children, there are five grandsons, Stanley, Arthur, Wayne, Tommy and Carroll Scott, one brother J. D. Scott of Shelby; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes McDonald of Lincoln, Mrs. I. J. Merrick of Osceola, and Mrs. J. W. Corbett of Lincoln. The deceased passed away early Thursday morning, January 14,1937.

Note: E W Watson was a well known farmer in Mitchell, noted for raising purebred hogs and cattle. Parents: Alexander SCOTT and Mary Ann MCCORNACK.

Wilma attended rural school near Shelby, NE. Upon graduating High School she returned to her rural grade school to teach for two years. She then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln NE where she received a Certificate to teach. She received a bachelor of education from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a master's from Colorado College of Education (now University of Northern Colorado). She taught in Shelby and Hastings NE before moving to Greeley CO in 1942 to be principal of Central Elementary School.
Central was closed upon completion of Park School in 1951. When classes were moved to the new school she was given the supervision of Washington School. In January 1964 she became principal of Sherwood where she remained until her retirement in 1969. Sherwood School was renamed 'Wilma M. Scott School' in her honor in June 1969.
Wilma was active in the Greeley Teacher Assn. and Colorado Principals Assn and served on the Advisory Board for National Principal Journal for three years. She was a life member of the National Education Assn.
Wilma was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on several commissions and as chairperson of the Administration Board. She was active in Greeley Altrusa Club and was governor of District Six of Altrusa Clubs, Inc. She was a member of the cancer drive for Greeley in 19?, was a Loaned Executive for United Way drive, was on the Ladies Advisory Board of the United Bank of Greeley, a member of the Greeley Public Library Board, and was a volunteer librarian at North Colorado Medical Center and Auxiliary member there since 1971.
Wilma was an honored alumna of the University of Northern Colorado in 1969, was named Beautiful Activist of the State of Colorado in 1974, received the Women Helping Women Award from the Soroptimist Club of Greeley in 1980, received Awards of Merit from the Elks Club in 1985 and from the Rotary Club of Greeley in 1988.
